Though we have been receiving a lot of inquiries from our travelovers since October, the thought of spending Php3,000.00 or more in addition to their tour package puts off their travel plans in visiting the island. The high cost of COVID-19 Reverse Transcription-Polymerase Chain Reaction or(RT-PCR) tests not only turns off many travelers, it has somewhat discouraged us, travel operators.
The good news is, the Boracay IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) agreed to provide low-cost RT-PCR tests for all those domestic tourists bound. The DOT (Department of Tourism) with UP-PGH (University of the Philippines-Philippine General Hospital) will lead the implementation of this program. This makes the cost of the test kit down to Php1,800.00 from the standard charges per test of PHP 3,500.00 Adult tourists are required to have the nose & mouth swab while kids only need to get the mouth swab. A negative RT-PCT test result is required at least within 72hours prior to the flight.
